The Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the Metro Jaya Police met with residents in Jatinegara, East Jakarta. This step was taken to strengthen public security and order through the Jaga Jakarta On The Spot programme. In this activity, Kombes Henik Maryanto, Commander of the Metro Jaya Police Brimob, directly greeted residents at the Prumpung Public Cemetery, RW 03, Cipinang Besar Utara Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/6/2026). There, Henik met with residents and community leaders. During the occasion, a number of residents conveyed complaints about various environmental security issues, specifically brawls that frequently occur in the area. Responding to the residents’ concerns, Kombes Henik confirmed that the Metro Jaya Police continue to conduct patrols to prevent brawls. ‘We also ask the community to play an active role in maintaining public order. Collaboration between residents, community leaders, schools, and the police is key to reducing potential conflicts involving teenagers,’ said Kombes Henik in his statement. Henik also highlighted the use of social media, which is often exploited as a means of provocation and spreading invitations to brawls. He stressed that information regarding accounts suspected of involvement would be followed up through coordination with relevant units as a preventive measure before any brawl occurs. During the dialogue, residents conveyed that brawls around the Prumpung Public Cemetery had decreased compared to before. However, a number of teenage groups still use social media to communicate and determine meeting locations. Therefore, the Metro Jaya Police Brimob encouraged a joint commitment from residents to strengthen environmental supervision and develop positive activities for teenagers. The activity took place in an interactive manner and concluded with the distribution of basic food aid to residents. The Metro Jaya Police Brimob hopes that the established synergy can continue to be strengthened to keep the environment safe, comfortable, and conducive. The public was also urged to immediately report any potential public order disturbances to the nearest police station or through the Polri 110 service.
