Jakarta, VIVA – The legal process against Bripda Mesias Siahaya, a Brimob officer who assaulted Madrasah Arianto Tawakal (14), a student, to death in the city of Tual, Maluku, is ongoing.

The Maluku Regional Police confirmed that the case file has been transferred to the Tual Public Prosecutor’s Office. The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Johnny Edizzon Isir, stated that the first stage of the file transfer had been completed.

“Regarding the investigation process, based on Police Report: LP/B/32/II/2026/Satreskrim/SPKT/Tual Police/Maluku Regional Police dated 19 February 2026, the case file has been completed and the first stage has been submitted to the Tual Public Prosecutor’s Office on 24 February 2026,” he said on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

In this case, Bripda MS is charged under Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, in conjunction with Article 466 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a fine of up to Rp3 billion.

“So, once again, the case file has now been submitted for review by the public prosecutors,” said Johnny.

The National Police hopes that the prosecutors will soon declare the file complete, both formally and materially. This will allow the process to continue to the stage of handing over the suspect and evidence for trial in court.

In addition to the criminal process, Bripda MS also underwent a hearing before the National Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) at the Maluku Regional Police on Monday, 23 February 2026. In the hearing, he was given the sanction of dismissal from the National Police.

For information, the Brimob officer who assaulted a Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) student with the initials Arianto Tawakal (14) to death near the Uningrat Campus, Tual City, Maluku, on Thursday, 19 February 2026, has been secured and detained at the Tual Police Detention Center. The Maluku Regional Police ensures that the legal process against its members will be carried out without compromise.

The suspected perpetrator, with the initials Bripda Masias Siahaya, is known to be a member of the Brimob Kompi 1 Battalion C. He is known to have assaulted the victim, who was riding a motorcycle with his older brother. The victim was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment but eventually died, while his older brother suffered a broken bone.
