Brimob Officer Apologises for Fatal Student Assault: "I Was Negligent and Reckless"

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Bripda MS, a member of the Brimob (Mobile Brigade) and a suspect in the alleged assault case involving a student from a Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic junior high school) in Tual City, expressed his apologies to the victim’s family and the public after attending a hearing of the Polri (National Police) Code of Ethics Commission at the Maluku Regional Police headquarters on Tuesday. Bripda MS admitted to being negligent in the incident that led to the victim’s death. “I sincerely apologise to the victim’s parents and family. I was negligent, and I did not fully consider the impact of my negligence. I had no intention whatsoever to assault anyone, let alone cause the victim’s death,” said Bripda MS in Ambon on Tuesday. The apology was delivered directly before the panel of the Polri Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP), chaired by the Head of the Propam (Professional and Internal Affairs) Division of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner Pol. Indera Gunawan. With a trembling voice, Bripda MS acknowledged his negligence and expressed deep regret for his actions, which ultimately resulted in the victim’s death. He also apologised to the Polri institution and the Brimob Corps, which were affected by his actions. “I also apologise to the Polri institution and the Brimob Corps, which I am proud to be a part of. Because of my actions, the reputation of the institution has been tarnished in the eyes of the public,” he said.
