Brimob Metro Police Conduct Certification to Enhance Riot Control Expertise

The Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit of Jakarta Metro Police held a competency certification programme for officers involved in riot control. The initiative was undertaken to enhance professional standards and technical capabilities of personnel in addressing potential public order disturbances.

The Competency Certification programme focused on three key areas: riot control enforcement personnel within the Riot Control Unit (PHH), operators of Armoured Water Cannon (AWC) vehicles, and operators of Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) vehicles. Formally inaugurated by Brimob Metro Police Commander, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, the programme took place at the Budiman Auditorium of the Pelopor Battalion C headquarters on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

The certification process involved a panel of assessors tasked with evaluating personnel competency across riot control enforcement, AWC operation, and APC operation.

The certification was designed to ensure that all personnel assigned to the Riot Control Unit and those operating tactical vehicles—AWC and APC—possess standardised competencies encompassing technical proficiency, tactical capability, and mental readiness for field operations. With proven capability, personnel are expected to respond swiftly, appropriately, and proportionately to maintain security stability.

Senior Commissioner Henik emphasised that the certification represents an important step in strengthening Brimob personnel readiness to meet evolving operational demands within the community. He stressed that competency improvement must proceed alongside discipline and responsibility in executing state duties.

“Through this certification, we aim to ensure that every officer possesses tested and professional capability when carrying out field security duties. This is important so that every police action can be executed appropriately, proportionately, and with a focus on public safety,” Senior Commissioner Henik stated.

Through this initiative, Brimob Metro Police aims for the presence of professional and well-trained personnel to provide public reassurance and enhance community confidence in police services for maintaining security and public order within Jakarta Metro Police’s jurisdiction.
