Brimob Foils Illegal Street Race in Rawamangun, East Jakarta; Four Motorcycles Confiscated
Personnel from the Pioneer B Battalion of the Metro Jaya Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) together with the East Jakarta Metro Police Pioneer Team broke up an illegal street race on Jalan Pemuda, Rawamangun, East Jakarta, in the early hours of Tuesday (14/7/2026). Four motorcycles were seized. The crackdown was carried out after officers received a public report while conducting a rayonisation patrol as part of Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD). ‘From the location, officers secured four motorcycles suspected of being used in the illegal street racing and handed them over to the East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit for further investigation,’ said Metro Jaya Police Brimob Commander, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, in a statement on Tuesday (14/7). Senior Commissioner Henik stated that the routine patrols carried out by his unit are a form of the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to maintaining security and providing a sense of safety to the public. ‘Every report from the public will be followed up quickly. The presence of personnel in the field is not only for enforcement but also to prevent potential public order disturbances so that the public can carry out their activities safely and comfortably,’ he said. He explained that illegal street racing not only violates traffic regulations but also has the potential to endanger the safety of the participants and other road users. For this reason, personnel from the Pioneer B Battalion of the Metro Jaya Police Brimob together with the East Jakarta Metro Police continue to increase patrols in several vulnerable areas. ‘(Vulnerable areas) include the Jatinegara and Duren Sawit areas, to anticipate 3C crimes, brawls, online gambling, and online fraud. During the patrol, the situation within the jurisdiction of the East Jakarta Metro Police was observed to be safe and conducive,’ he clarified. Henik conveyed that this joint patrol activity is part of ongoing efforts to create a conducive public order and security situation, while also strengthening the synergy between the Metro Jaya Police Brimob Unit and the East Jakarta Metro Police in providing the best service to the public through preventive and responsive measures. ‘The public is urged not to engage in illegal street racing or other actions that have the potential to disrupt public order. If you encounter any public order disturbances or require police assistance, the public can immediately contact the Police Service 110 for a swift response,’ he concluded.
