Brimob Bomb Squad Secures National Chinese New Year Celebration in Central Jakarta

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police carried out security operations for the National Celebration of Chinese New Year 2577 Kongzili at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed its bomb disposal squad (jibom) to conduct a security sweep.

The sterilisation was carried out on Sunday (22/2/2026) at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. Operations commenced at 10:00 Western Indonesian Time, beginning with coordination with the organising committee before personnel conducted a thorough inspection of several strategic points.

The sweep covered the main stage, backstage area, VVIP guest seating, music stage, audio and video control rooms, and the VVIP transit lounge.

“The sterilisation results showed no suspicious objects or hazardous materials were found. After the entire process was completed, officers carried out the handover of the sterilisation report with the organising committee,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Brimob Commander, Commissioner Henik Maryanto, in his statement.

Commissioner Henik affirmed that security through sterilisation is a preventive measure to guarantee the safety of public events. He assured that the religious celebration proceeded safely, in an orderly manner, and without disruption.

“Sterilisation is our priority for every public event. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Brimob is committed to ensuring all activities, particularly religious celebrations, take place safely, in an orderly fashion, and smoothly,” he said.

The police also urged the public to jointly maintain a conducive security situation and to immediately report any potential security threats through the 110 call centre, which operates around the clock.
