A fatal accident involving the KA Gajayana train and a Mitsubishi Triton occurred at a level crossing on Jalan Pahlawan, East Bekasi, Bekasi City. Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel assisted in the evacuation.

The accident happened around 12.50 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. Brimob personnel from the Metro Jaya Police who were on patrol immediately went to the location after receiving information about the incident.

“Upon arrival at the location, personnel together with the Bekasi City Metro Police secured the area, assisted in evacuating the victim, and escorted the ambulance to the Bekasi City Regional General Hospital,” said Metro Jaya Police Brimob Commander, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, in a statement on Monday (27/7/2026).

The driver of the Mitsubishi Triton, identified as Alfarouk, 24, was reported to have died at the scene. The victim was fatally trapped in the driver’s cabin.

Senior Commissioner Henik stated that the activity was part of a routine patrol by Company 2 of the Pioneer Battalion within the jurisdiction of the Bekasi City Metro Police. In addition to maintaining public order and security, the patrol also demonstrates Brimob’s readiness to provide assistance when the public faces emergency situations.

He emphasised that personnel readiness is a crucial part of police duties, both in maintaining security and in providing services to the community.

“Every personnel member must be able to respond to any incident quickly and appropriately. The presence of Brimob in the field is expected to help the community and support the handling process so that it proceeds safely and smoothly,” said Henik.

Chronology of the Accident

Separately, the Head of the Traffic Accident Unit of the Bekasi City Metro Police, First Inspector Rojali, explained that the accident began when two cars were crossing the area. The first car crossed safely.

Meanwhile, the second car, a Mitsubishi Triton with registration number B-9920-FSW, did not make it across safely. The car was hit by the KA Gajayana train and dragged for 30 metres.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the car was reported dead. The vehicle he was driving was severely damaged.

“The car was heavily damaged and the driver died after being trapped inside the car,” said Rojali.
