Brimob Arrests Three Teenagers Suspected of Planning Brawl in Bekasi, Sharp Weapons Seized
The Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police prevented a brawl allegedly planned by several teenagers in the North Tambun area of Bekasi, West Java. A number of sharp weapons were seized.
"Three teenagers were detained along with several pieces of evidence after officers discovered suspicious activity," said Metro Jaya Police Brimob Commander, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, on Saturday (20/6/2026).
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning. The three were arrested while Brimob personnel were conducting sweeps at several points prone to security disturbances, which often serve as gathering spots for youth groups.
"During the patrol, officers encountered three teenagers suspected of planning a brawl, so an immediate inspection and security measures were carried out to prevent a clash," he revealed.
Patrols during these vulnerable hours are a preventive measure to maintain neighbourhood security and protect the public from disturbances.
"Prevention is the top priority. The presence of personnel in the field is expected to close off opportunities for brawls, illegal street racing, and other criminal acts that can harm the community," he stated.
The weapons identified by officers included a sickle-like blade and bamboo sticks. In addition, officers also secured a motorcycle and mobile phones.
"The three teenagers were then handed over to the North Tambun Police Sector for further handling. Additionally, officers also found several items that were secured for examination and further investigation by the police," he explained.
The patrol then continued until dawn to ensure the surrounding area was safe. He urged the public, especially parents, to increase supervision of their children.
"If residents discover potential security disturbances, they can immediately contact the National Police’s 110 emergency service, which is active 24 hours a day," he concluded.
