Brilli Kids Gorontalo Students Win Silver and Bronze at AMEC 2026
Ten students from Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School Gorontalo achieved Silver and Bronze awards at the Asia Math Engineering Challenge (AMEC) 2026, held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Five students received the Silver Award: Macayla Suraya Askana Hutagalung, Khalisa Danishara, Charlene Selena Wisang, Gendis Lalita Adraya Pranoto, and Aldric Prama Polontalo. Meanwhile, the Bronze Award was achieved by Shannon Roferichie Liyanto, Frechianny Edeline Hermanto, Azkayra Erinina Ismail, Afdhal Gilang Maloho, and Khanza Dwi Arshani.
The Head of Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School, Ika Rahmawati Hadikum in Gorontalo, stated on Saturday that the students’ participation in AMEC is part of the school’s efforts to provide international-level learning experiences while strengthening 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and the use of technology.
“This achievement serves as a valuable experience for students to continue developing their academic abilities and innovation skills through collaboration with participants from various countries,” she said.
During the competition, participants engaged in a series of learning and project development activities in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This included topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), microcontrollers, digital sensors, hackathons, and the presentation of innovation projects before a panel of judges.
Additionally, participants took part in an academic visit to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and mentoring sessions aimed at developing technology-based solutions for various everyday problems.
Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School was the only primary school to participate in AMEC 202<0xC2>6. Its students competed alongside junior high school students from several schools across Asia, including Seri Mulia Sarjana from Brunei Darussalam, International Christian School GCF from the Philippines, Idrissi International School from Malaysia, and Sekolah Indonesia Johor Bahru.
Throughout the competition, participants worked in cross-national teams to develop technology-based prototypes, devise solutions to specific problems, and present their results to international judges.
AMEC is an international event that brings together students from various Asian countries through competitions, workshops, and project-based learning to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
