Brilli Kids Gorontalo Students Win Silver and Bronze at AMEC 2026

Ten students from Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School in Gorontalo have won Silver and Bronze awards at the Asia Math Engineering Challenge (AMEC) 2026 held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Five students received the Silver Award: Macayla Suraya Askana Hutagalung, Khalisa Danishara, Charlene Selena Wisang, Gendis Lalita Adraya Pranoto, and Aldric Prama Polontalo. The Bronze Award was secured by Shannon Roferichie Liyanto, Frechian Edeline Hermanto, Azkayra Erinina Ismail, Afdhal Gilang Maloho, and Khanza Dwi Arshani. Head of Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School, Ika Rahmawati Hadikum, stated that participation in AMEC is part of the school’s effort to provide international learning experiences and strengthen 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and technology utilisation. She noted that the achievement serves as a valuable experience for students to further develop their academic abilities and innovation skills through collaboration with participants from various countries. During the competition, participants engaged in a series of learning and project development activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), covering topics such as artificial intelligence, microcontrollers, digital sensors, and a hackathon, culminating in an innovation project presentation before an international panel of judges. Participants also took part in an academic visit to University Technology Malaysia (UTM) and mentoring sessions to develop technology-based solutions for everyday problems. Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School was the only primary school participating in AMEC 2026, competing alongside secondary school students from various Asian schools, including Seri Mulia Sarjana from Brunei Darussalam, International Christian School GCF from the Philippines, Idrissi International School from Malaysia, and Sekolah Indonesia Johor Bahru. Throughout the competition, participants worked in cross-country teams to develop technology-based prototypes, formulate solutions to a given problem, and present their results to an international panel of judges. AMEC is an international event that brings together students from across Asia through competitions, workshops, and project-based learning to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
