Jakarta – Ahead of the mass exodus and return during the 2026 Lebaran holidays, Indonesia’s Traffic Police Command (Korlantas Polri) has launched the national tagline “Safe Mudik, Happy Family” as a collective spirit to realise safe, orderly, and meaningful journeys characterised by shared values.

This tagline serves not merely as an operational traffic safety slogan but also as a moral movement to build a culture of discipline on the roads.

The initiative follows directives from the Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, and guidance from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, instructing all police units to provide maximum service to the public and ensure that mudik security operations run optimally, humanely, and professionally. The tagline is scheduled for official launch on 3 March 2026.

In line with this spirit, the Director of Road Operations at Korlantas Polri, Brigadier General Wibowo, through the Polantas Menyapa programme is engaging young people, particularly Gen Z, to become pioneers of a campaign promoting vehicle administrative compliance.

According to Wibowo, “Safe Mudik” encompasses not only traffic management, service posts, and accident prevention on high-risk routes, but also begins with complete and valid vehicle documentation. Essentials such as driving licences, active vehicle registration certificates, valid ownership documents, and compliance with vehicle registration and identification procedures form the basic foundation of safety and orderliness.

“Gen Z is a creative digital generation with significant influence in public spaces and on social media. We are inviting them to become agents of change, campaigning for the importance of vehicle administrative compliance as part of a road safety culture,” Wibowo stated.

He emphasised that administrative compliance is not merely a legal obligation but rather a form of moral responsibility towards oneself, one’s family, and fellow road users.

Vehicles that are correctly registered and legally compliant facilitate oversight, legal protection, and assistance in the event of unforeseen circumstances during travel.

Meanwhile, the meaning of “Happy Family” represents the ultimate goal of all such efforts. Mudik is an emotional journey to reunite with parents and relatives. This happiness can only be realised if the journey is undertaken with discipline, compliance with regulations, and ensuring that all vehicle aspects—both technical and administrative—are in proper working condition.
