Brigade Joxzin has revealed that its member who died after being slashed by unknown assailants (OTK) at his residence in Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul had previously been involved in gang-related challenges with another group. The victim, Kitin Yoga Tama Rustamaji or YTR (36), was an entrepreneur.

“From accounts provided by Joxzin members in the area, there were reports of challenge-related fights between him and another group,” said Mohamad Novweni, a member of Brigade Joxzin’s Legal and Human Rights Team, when contacted by detikJogja on Friday (27 February 2026).

However, Novweni stated that he did not know which group was involved. Additionally, the challenges between YTR and the other group allegedly occurred several weeks prior to the incident.

“A few weeks ago there were these challenge-related confrontations, then a few weeks later this incident happened,” he said.

Nevertheless, Novweni declined to speculate about the origin of the group involved in the challenges with Yoga. His organisation has handed over the case to Bantul Police.

“We cannot assume the perpetrators are from a particular organisation or anything else because everything has been handed over to the police, and they are still investigating,” he stated.

Aside from this, during his membership in Brigade Joxzin, Novweni said the individual had never had problems with other members or groups.

“As far as Joxzin members are concerned, he never had any issues, either with fellow members or other groups,” he said.

Regarding YTR’s background, Novweni revealed that he was known as an entrepreneur during his daily life, with his business relating to livestock farming.

“The deceased was an entrepreneur; he raised fighting cocks. He would nurture young fighting cocks and raise them,” he explained.

Meanwhile, police have not yet disclosed much information regarding reports that the victim had been involved in gang-related challenges. Police are currently conducting an investigation.

“We are still looking into the matter and examining witness statements,” said Iptu Rita Hidayanto, Head of Public Relations at Bantul Police, when asked for comment.

As previously reported, a man died after becoming a victim of assault using a machete at a residence in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The attack occurred inside the home whilst the victim slept alongside his wife and child on Wednesday (25 February). Two masked assailants attacked the victim, and after successfully slashing YTR, the perpetrators immediately fled the residence. YTR’s five-year-old child sustained no injuries, while the victim’s wife suffered wounds whilst attempting to shield against the attackers.
