Bridging Academia and Industry: UI Presents Corporate Practitioner Dany Amrul Ichdan at 2026 Graduation
The development of artificial intelligence (AI), economic transformation, and social change has made the challenges facing the younger generation increasingly complex. Entering the professional world, excellence is no longer determined solely by how deeply one masters a single field, but also by the ability to connect knowledge, technology, and various perspectives into solutions that are relevant to society.
The need to bring the academic world together with professional reality was one of the driving spirits behind the Universitas Indonesia Graduation Ceremony for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. Universitas Indonesia (UI) invited Dany Amrul Ichdan, a corporate practitioner who currently serves as Deputy President Director of MIND ID, to deliver the Graduation Speech at Balairung UI, Depok, on Saturday (22/8/2026).
Drawing on his experience in leadership, business transformation, and organisational management, Dany shared perspectives on how knowledge gained during university can become capital for addressing real problems. According to him, the challenges after graduation actually begin when graduates must be able to bring together different competencies to produce meaningful work.
This message was particularly relevant for graduates of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Computer Science, and Faculty of Psychology. According to Dany, the real world does not operate based on faculty boundaries.
“The future is not built by a single discipline alone, but by the courage to bring together various areas of expertise. When medicine and public health meet technology, psychology, and social and policy perspectives, we open space for the birth of more holistic innovations—not only answering today’s needs, but creating new possibilities and progress for Indonesia,” said Dany.
Therefore, depth of competence must go hand in hand with the ability to collaborate. When expertise from various disciplines is brought together, knowledge can develop into innovation, innovation into products or solutions, and ultimately deliver broader benefits.
To build this capacity, Dany shared three provisions for graduates: distinctive—recognising one’s unique strengths and perspectives; adaptive—continuing to learn in the face of change; and inclusive—being open to working with people of different expertise and viewpoints.
These three characteristics are reinforced by the principles of Power of Belief, Power of Commitment, and Power of Legacy: the courage to keep moving forward, consistency in carrying out responsibilities, and the awareness that a professional journey is ultimately not only about personal achievement, but about the impact one leaves behind.
“Indonesia has outstanding talent from various fields. When these strengths are interconnected, collaborate, and are realised into tangible work, we have great power to create more solutions, expand benefits, and together bring Indonesia further forward,” concluded Dany.
