Bridge Where Bogor Civil Servant Fell into Cisadane River Can Only Be Crossed by One Motorcycle

A civil servant (ASN) from the Bogor City Government, named Bayu Zulkarnain, is believed to have fallen into the Cisadane River in Cipaku, South Bogor, West Java, while crossing a steep bridge. Police have disclosed the precarious condition of the bridge, which can only be crossed by one vehicle at a time.

“The bridge connects Cipaku and Pamoyanan sub-districts. The alternative road is quite steep, especially from the Cipaku to Pamoyanan direction,” said South Bogor Police Chief Kompol Ihin Solihin on Friday (14/8/2026). He added, “On the bridge, you have to take turns; only one motorcycle can cross at a time.”

Kompol Ihin estimated the distance from the bridge to the river surface is between 25 and 30 metres. The incident occurred on Thursday (13/8) at around 7 p.m. local time as the victim was returning home from work. The victim was an ASN at the Bogor City Archives and Regional Library Office.

The Head of the Bogor City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Dimas Tiko Prahadisasongko, stated the victim used this route daily. He suspected the steep descent caused the victim to fall into the river, a theory supported by the discovery of the victim’s motorcycle lying on the bridge and a bag floating in the water. The bag was found approximately 100 metres from the suspected point of the fall.

The search operation continued into its second day, with 70 personnel deployed from BPBD, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), police, the fire department, Tagana, and local residents.
