The bridge connecting Silam and Empat Balai villages in Kuok district, Kampar, has been completed on Friday (15/5/2026). The construction of this access route brings new hope for the community.

For years, residents and schoolchildren risked their lives crossing a dilapidated wooden bridge that was tilted and swayed over the river. However, the community’s long-awaited access to a proper bridge has now been realised with the construction of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge.

Head of Operations at the Riau Police, Kombes Pol Ino Harianto, said that the bridge was built through a joint effort by personnel from the Riau Police, the Kampar Police, along with the community and donors in the area.

“The construction of this bridge is a self-help or joint effort carried out by personnel. This is a programme of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, implemented by the National Police,” said Kombes Ino.

The construction of the bridge, which took about two months, has now reached 90 per cent completion, with dozens of personnel from the Riau Police’s Mobile Brigade and the Kampar Police deployed, led by the Head of the Riau Police’s Mobile Brigade, Kombes I Ketut Gede Adiwibawa. Currently, the construction is in the final stages.

In addition to providing connectivity for the community, especially schoolchildren, the construction of the bridge also facilitates mobility and the local economy.

“With this bridge, it is hoped that community mobility will be smoother, the economy will improve, and most importantly, it will provide a sense of security and comfort for our children who are seeking education,” he added.

The completion of the bridge construction was welcomed with joy by the community. Children no longer have to worry when crossing the river to get to school.

“Thank you, Mr. President, thank you, Mr. Chief of Police. We are happy that there is now a new bridge,” shouted the schoolchildren while waving their hands on the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge.
