A bridge on the northern Trans Flores route in East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), is at risk of collapse following an aftershock on Thursday (20/8/2026). Four-wheeled vehicles can no longer cross the approximately 30-metre bridge.

The bridge is located in Satar Kampas Village, Lamba Leda Utara District, East Manggarai. It connects Reo, Manggarai Regency, with Dampek, East Manggarai.

This road section is the main access route for logistics aid and health workers to the areas affected by the Flores earthquake in Dampek and its surroundings.

“The bridge connecting Reo–Dampek towards Pota is at risk of collapse. At present, the bridge cannot be crossed by four-wheeled vehicles,” said local resident Efrem Polce on Thursday (20/8/2026).

Efrem said the bridge had already suffered minor damage from the first earthquake on 15 August. Vehicles could still pass over it at that time. The damage has now become severe due to the aftershock this morning with a magnitude of 5.8.

The Trans Flores road is a vital route for delivering logistics aid to earthquake victims in the Dampek area. Aid deliveries could be hampered if the bridge is damaged.

“It is a vital route for transporting logistics to Dampek Pota. If it is severed, mobility for logistics transport and medical services will be obstructed,” said Efrem.
