Heavy rain since yesterday has increased the river’s water flow in Gobang Village, Rumpin Subdistrict, Bogor, West Java, causing the village-connecting bridge to collapse. “The bridge collapsed due to the strong river current from high rainfall over the past few days,” said Bogor Deputy Regent Ade Ruhandi (Jaro Ade) on Thursday (16/4/2026). He also inspected the site of the collapsed bridge. According to him, access and residents’ activities in the area are disrupted by the bridge collapse. In addition, he expressed concern for residents living along the riverbank. Jaro Ade urged residents to temporarily not occupy their homes. “The Bogor Regency Government is saddened by this incident. We urge residents living along the riverbank to temporarily not occupy their homes to prevent unwanted incidents,” he stated. The bridge is a vital access for local community mobility, especially to support village economic activities. “Therefore, the Bogor Regency Government will take swift action, both through emergency handling and planning for the bridge’s reconstruction,” he explained. “We will take quick steps so that community access can be restored soon, both with emergency handling and planning for permanent bridge construction,” added Jaro Ade.
