Bridge in Pandeglang Collapses Under Sand Truck, Cutting Off Residents

A bridge in Kampung Citoke, Mekarsari Village, Pandeglang Regency, collapsed after being crossed by a sand truck. Local mobility has now been disrupted. “Daily activities are severely affected because people are confused about how to get to work,” said local resident Supiani on Monday (24/8/2026). Supiani said students have also been affected by the incident. They are currently unable to cross to go to school. “Children are forced to return home because they are afraid. There is no alternative road; this is our only route,” she added. Another resident, Ade Sumarnu, said the bridge collapsed on Sunday (23/8). The structure reportedly gave way because it could not withstand the heavy load of a sand truck attempting to cross. “Suddenly part of the bridge suffered damage until it collapsed,” he said. The truck plunged into the river after the bridge it was crossing collapsed. Ade said there were no fatalities in the incident. “The truck also slipped and fell into the river,” he said.
