The foundation of a bridge in Kampung Pulo, Cipayung, Depok, has been damaged, prompting residents to call for immediate repairs to the structure, which serves as a key access route to Citayam Station and Citayam Market.

Observations by detikcom on Tuesday (24/2/2026) at 08:00 Western Indonesian Time revealed that part of the bridge had been blocked off with wood and bamboo to prevent cars from crossing. Motorcycles were still able to pass over the bridge, though only in single file. The foundation on one side beneath the bridge was visibly shifted.

The bridge is a major thoroughfare for residents of Cipayung through to Bedahan in Sawangan, Depok, as well as Bojong Gede and Tajur Halang in Bogor, who use it to reach Citayam Station. The bridge is frequently congested with vehicles during the morning rush hour and again in the evening.

Laras, a resident who regularly crosses the bridge, expressed hope that the local government would carry out repairs without delay. She voiced concern that the bridge could collapse whilst people are crossing or stuck in traffic on it.

“We want it fixed immediately. It’s frightening — it’s the rainy season and the river is flowing quite strongly. If the water keeps hitting it, I’m afraid it could collapse while someone is crossing,” she said.

According to Laras, the damage has been present since January 2026. She added that the bridge’s reduced capacity has caused significant inconvenience for residents.

“It’s difficult to get through when it’s narrowed like this. Even under normal conditions, there are frequent traffic jams,” she said.
