The construction of these bridges is part of a series of commemorations for the 80th Bhayangkara Day. One bridge in Sadea Village, Jawilan District, has reached the final finishing stages, while two others—located in Karang Baru Village, Pontang, and Kagulon Village, Ciruas—are currently under construction.

These three bridges were originally bamboo structures that were prone to collapse, particularly during floods. In Kagulon Village, the bridge consisted of a collection of bamboo poles that could only be traversed by pedestrians. The Serang Police intend to replace these with proper concrete bridges. The construction process is being carried out through a spirit of ‘gotong royong’ (mutual cooperation) between the Serang Police and the local residents.

“We are undertaking this bridge repair with the spirit of mutual cooperation alongside residents as a tangible form of the National Police’s care for community needs. We want the presence of the Police to be truly felt through its benefits,” said the Serang Police Chief, AKBP Andri Kurniawan, on Friday (5/6/2026).

The repairs are being implemented to ensure that the community can use inter-regional connecting access safely and comfortably. Proper bridges are capable of smoothing community mobility, particularly in supporting economic, educational, and other social activities.

“Bridges are vital facilities for the community. When transport access is smooth, then residents’ activities, including the distribution of agricultural products and trade, will also run more effectively,” he added.

The Police Chief explained that the three repaired bridges will eventually be named the ‘Merah Putih Bridge’ as a symbol of the spirit of togetherness, unity, and mutual cooperation between the Police and the community.

The construction process is being carried out in stages, involving various elements of the community. Residents have shown great enthusiasm in assisting with tasks ranging from transporting materials to the construction work itself.

“The spirit of mutual cooperation shown by the community is extraordinary. This proves that togetherness is the primary strength in building a better environment,” said Andri.

Andri added that all work is targeted for completion before the peak of the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebrations on 1 July. Once completed, the three bridges will be officially inaugurated and fully accessible to the public.

“God willing, the repairs will be completed on time and we will inaugurate them on 1 July 2026, coinciding with the 80th Bhayangkara Day. We hope these bridges can provide long-term benefits for the community,” said the 2006 Akpol alumnus.
