Bridge Connecting Ponorogo and Trenggalek Collapses; Residents Rely on Emergency Gondola

PONOROGO — Residents have been crossing the Jabak River using an emergency gondola to reach Gedangan Village, Ngrayun, Ponorogo, East Java, on Sunday (22/2/2026). The local community was forced to build the gondola through self-funded efforts as a means of crossing between areas after the bridge connecting Ponorogo and Trenggalek regencies collapsed.

The makeshift gondola has become the primary mode of transport for villagers needing to cross the river, underscoring the critical need for infrastructure repair in the region.
