Bride-to-Be Missing Ahead of Wedding with 14-Year Age Gap

A bride-to-be in Pati Regency was reported missing as she prepared to marry a man 14 years her senior ahead of the ceremony on Thursday morning. Police have stepped in to locate the woman, who is believed to have eloped with another man. ‘There is information circulating on social media that the bride-to-be left her home without saying goodbye,’ said Hafid Amin, Head of Public Relations at Polresta Pati, quoted by detikJateng on Thursday (21 May).

The couple were NAS, 19, and M, 33, residents of Tajungsari Village, Tlogowungu District, Pati Regency. ‘Today, NAS’s family went to Tlogowungu Police Station and reported to police to search for their daughter who left home without informing anyone,’ he explained. Hafid said the incident began when NAS had not been at home since 03:30 WIB. Because the bride was not at home, the family informed the groom, and according to their plan they were to have the akad nikah at 09:00 WIB this morning. The groom subsequently cancelled the wedding.

Police are coordinating with village authorities to locate NAS. Hafid urged anyone who knows NAS’s whereabouts to report to the police or contact 110. ‘We are coordinating with the village authorities. We are conducting a search for NAS,’ he said. ‘For NAS to return home soon. As for the case, we are still conducting a deeper investigation. To help locate the woman, please inform us or call 110,’ Hafid added.
