A couple, Aldi (32) and Feny (32), have reported being victims of alleged fraud by a wedding organiser (WO) based in East Jakarta, suffering losses of Rp85.5 million.

Feny stated they initially discovered the WO through Instagram, where they were drawn to the package offerings and made an initial down payment. After paying for a food tasting session and subsequent instalments, the couple noticed unprofessionalism during an online technical meeting, which lasted only 10 minutes with vague details about the event schedule.

On the day before the wedding (H-1), they discovered the venue payment was incomplete, with the WO having only paid a partial deposit. When they visited the WO’s office, it was empty, and locals indicated the business had moved to Rorotan. There, the WO provided inconsistent explanations about payment delays, even signing a notarised statement but then disappearing.

Despite emergency efforts to secure alternative vendors for the ceremony, the reception was cancelled. The couple filed a police report on 24 May with digital evidence and payment records. East Jakarta Metropolitan Police confirmed they are processing the case and urged other victims to come forward.
