BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition 2026 supports Indonesia's industrial transformation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest 2026 is expected to drive enhancements in Indonesia’s industry and support the realisation of the national vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
Cahyo Purnomo, Director of Regional Promotion at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday that Indonesia is currently in a phase to accelerate the new industrial revolution, thus requiring advanced technology and innovative concepts.
The event signifies innovative cooperation between Indonesia and China under the BRICS partnership for the New Industrial Revolution.
Cahyo hopes that through this competition, more outstanding local innovation projects can be unearthed, while attracting more technology and investment from China.
The competition, officially opened in Jakarta on Thursday (7/5), is organised by the International Economic and Technological Cooperation Center of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and implemented by China Datang Corporation Overseas Investment Co., Ltd.
The competition is also supported by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, the Ministry of Industry, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Indonesian Chinese Association (INTI), the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, and General Technology BRICS (Xiamen) Investment Development Co., Ltd.
Themed “BRICS Innovation and Development: Accelerating the New Industrial Revolution”, this 2026 competition focuses on four main development areas in Indonesia, namely artificial intelligence (AI), green industry, low altitude technology, and energy electronics.
Ajeng Arum Sari, Director of Talent Management at BRIN, stated that BRIN is always committed to promoting the transformation of local research outcomes and international cooperation.
According to her, the four main fields in the competition align with BRIN’s current research priorities.
She hopes that through this competition, more outstanding local research projects can be unearthed, promoting research cooperation between Indonesia and China, and accelerating the development of Indonesian innovations.
Meanwhile, the Director of the International Business Department of China Datang Corporation Ltd conveyed that China Datang Corporation will continue to increase investments in Indonesia, creating more job opportunities for local communities and training more professionals in the energy sector.
China Datang Corporation hopes that through this competition, it can serve as a bridge to connect Chinese and Indonesian innovative resources, helping Indonesian innovation projects access capital, technology, and international markets, as well as supporting the development of the BRICS partnership for the New Industrial Revolution.
It is known that the competition invites 10 leading experts from Indonesia and globally as judges.
The competition has attracted nearly 100 projects from Indonesia. After initial screening, 52 outstanding teams advanced to the direct presentation stage. Subsequently, two outstanding projects from each field will be recommended to the global final in Xiamen, China, carrying the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
