Moscow (ANTARA) - The foreign ministers of the BRICS member states have called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestinian territories, according to a joint statement issued after a meeting of foreign ministers in New Delhi, India, on Friday.

“They (the BRICS ministers) urge all parties to negotiate in good faith in order to achieve an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire, and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and all other parts of the occupied Palestinian territories,” the statement said.

The ministers also called for the release of all hostages and the provision of continuous and unimpeded access for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Since the start of the conflict between Hamas and Israel on 7 October 2023, more than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 170,000 injured. Israeli authorities have reported at least 1,200 Jewish citizens killed in the war.

Regional and international estimates indicate that the reconstruction of the almost completely destroyed territory will take about 10 years and require about 70 billion US dollars (about 1.2 quadrillion rupiah).
