Bribe-Paying Company and Customs Officials Rig Garment Imports to Include Kitchenware
JAKARTA — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed that imported goods were conditioned by PT Blueray Cargo together with officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) so they could pass inspection without checks. The KPK said the items included vehicle spare parts, garments, and a range of household appliances. ‘Some of the goods suspected to have been included by these forwarders are vehicle spare parts; there are also garments and other mixed items such as devices or household utensils, including kitchenware, which these goods entered via the forwarder PT BR,’ said Budi at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March 2026). ‘We have also obtained various data, including statements from parties related to companies believed to have paid sums of money to certain officials in the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for the processing of duties on those goods,’ he added. Moreover, Budi urged the witnesses to cooperate and support the ongoing legal process so that the case can be clarified further. Head of the DJBC Intelligence Sub-Directorate P2, Sisprian Subiaksono, and DJBC Intelligence Section head Orlando Hamonangan on Thursday (5 February 2026). Also mentioned were PT Blueray owner John Field, PT Blueray Import Documentation Team Leader Andri; and PT Blueray Operational Manager Dedy Kurniawan. Recently, the KPK appointed Budiman Bayu Prasojo, Head of the Section for Intelligence, Tax Enforcement and Investigation (P2) of DJBC, as a suspect on Friday (27 February 2026). ‘PT BR wants its underlings’ goods imported from abroad not to be inspected. So it can pass through customs checks easily,’ Asep said at a press conference on Thursday night (5 February 2026). Asep said the conspiracy between PT Blueray and several parties within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise began in October 2025. On the DJBC side, Sisprian Subiaksono as Head of the P2 Intel Sub-Directorate and Orlando Hamonangan as Head of the DJBC Intel Section were involved.
