Brian stresses strengthening multidisciplinary research to tackle global challenges
Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto stressed the need for multidisciplinary research to tackle global challenges. He highlighted the rapid changes in the world, from economic and geopolitical dynamics, advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), climate change to global industrial resilience. Minister Brian Yuliarto stated that universities play a strategic role in building global leadership capable of bridging various dimensions, from science and policy, innovation and sustainability, to inclusive economic growth. In this regard, he added, future leaders are needed who can provide cross-sector solutions through impactful knowledge and research collaboration. βIt is crucial to promote multidisciplinary science to solve global challenges, while simultaneously addressing domestic issues. This is one of the major challenges for the future, and forums like this are expected to generate effective ideas that strengthen international collaboration,β he said. Minister Brian stressed that the multidisciplinary research ecosystem must be continuously strengthened as a vital part of national higher education transformation. Universities are encouraged to be spaces where ideas and solutions relevant to global changes and national development needs emerge. Therefore, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is committed to fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration, strengthening international academic networks, and developing top talent capable of delivering impactful innovation and leadership for Indonesia and the world.
