Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, has again been recognised in the national financial services industry, winning four awards at the Top 20 Financial Institutions Award 2026.

BRI received the Finance Golden Star Award 2026 and Top 20 Financial Institution 2026 in the category for banks with assets of Rp500 trillion or more, with a rating of “Very Good”. The bank also won two Finance Special Awards 2026: The Most Active Digital Banking Transactions and The Most Inclusive Bank in MSME Financing. The awards were accepted by BRI Consumer Banking Director Aris Hartanto.

The awards were based on an assessment of each financial institution’s performance, using its financial reports for the last three periods as the main basis for evaluation.

BRI President Director Hery Gunardi said the achievement demonstrated the company’s ability to maintain strong business fundamentals amid global economic volatility. He said the awards would provide impetus for BRI to continue its transformation.

“These awards recognise BRI’s consistency in maintaining performance and responding to customers’ needs. We will continue to accelerate our digital transformation to provide services that are easier, safer and more integrated, while creating sustainable value for the community,” Hery said on Thursday (22 October 2026).

BRI’s performance in the first half of 2026 also showed positive growth. The bank posted net profit of Rp31.2 trillion, up 17.5% year on year. The result reflected BRI’s ability to maintain profitability during its business transformation while strengthening the foundations for healthy, high-quality growth.

In terms of lending, BRI’s loans reached Rp1,645.5 trillion at the end of June 2026, an increase of 16.2% year on year. This growth was supported by lending to the MSME segment, which totalled Rp1,235.4 trillion, up 8.6% year on year.

As of June 2026, the Ultra Micro Holding had served around 33.8 million borrowers and managed 166.3 million savings accounts, while helping 2.3 million borrowers move up to a larger business scale. By integrating financial services and empowerment initiatives within the ecosystem, it has opened access to formal financing for ultra-micro businesses and helped them build capacity and expand into higher business segments.

Alongside financing, BRI runs various empowerment programmes to build MSME capabilities and broaden their market access. By June 2026, Desa BRILiaN had reached more than 5,700 villages, while Klasterku Hidupku covered more than 44,000 business clusters. Through digital channels, linkumkm by BRI had reached around 17.3 million MSME operators, while around 596,000 business owners had taken part in Rumah BUMN.

“MSMEs are not only the company’s core business, but also a vital foundation for national economic growth. BRI’s role therefore goes beyond that of a financial intermediary: it is also an enabler, supporting businesses from their earliest stages, helping them build capacity and competitiveness, and enabling them to move up to the next level. We want BRI’s growth to go hand in hand with the progress of MSMEs and the people’s economy,” Hery said.
