Amid the movement of the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), which remains in negative territory year-to-date, attention on state-owned enterprise (BUMN) shares has increased again. This emerged during a meeting between Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, COO of BPI Danantara Dony Oskaria, BRI President Director Hery Gunardi, the President Directors of Himbara banks, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and several BUMNs in Jakarta (09/06). The meeting discussed various strategic measures to maintain capital market stability and strengthen investor confidence, including the discourse on share buybacks by BUMN issuers. BRI President Director Hery Gunardi assessed that the attention from various stakeholders reflects confidence in the long-term prospects of BUMN companies, particularly the banking sector, which continues to demonstrate solid performance and fundamentals. According to Hery, maintained market stability is an important factor in supporting a healthy investment climate. “Investor confidence in national banking shares is supported by an industry performance that remains resilient amid global economic dynamics. The banking industry still records positive credit growth, maintained asset quality, and strong liquidity and capital conditions,” said Hery, quoted on Friday, 12 June 2026. Hery, who also serves as Chairman of Perbanas, added that the fundamentals of the national banking industry remain strong to date. Based on OJK data, up to April 2026, banking credit grew 9.98% year-on-year, while Third-Party Funds (DPK) increased by 11.40%. “The strong growth in credit and public fund accumulation shows that public trust in the banking industry remains well maintained, while also reflecting an effectively functioning intermediation function,” explained Hery. For BRI, strengthening market confidence is primarily built through consistent performance. The company continues to focus on maintaining asset quality, strengthening capital and liquidity, and creating sustainable added value for shareholders. “Regarding the buyback discourse, any corporate action will certainly be carefully assessed and implemented in accordance with applicable regulatory provisions. Currently, our main focus remains on strengthening the company’s fundamentals and creating long-term value for all stakeholders,” concluded Hery.
