BRI Teams Up with Syailendra Capital to Strengthen Wealth Management Services

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has officially entered into a collaboration with asset management company PT Syailendra Capital to broaden access to mutual fund distribution for customers. The partnership was formalised through a mutual fund distribution memorandum of understanding signed on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

BRI’s Director of Consumer Banking, Aris Hartanto, said BRI continues to strengthen the consumer banking and commercial segments, notably by reinforcing wealth management.

In its drive to provide a comprehensive wealth management service, BRI is required to deliver the best and integrated service. Therefore, BRI needs to collaborate with competent parties, including with asset managers offering investment products.

‘The wealth management, especially for our private clients, requires a wide range of products that are diverse and beneficial—that is one of our objectives,’ he said at a press conference in BRILian Transformation Room, BRI I Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday 20 May 2026.

Following the collaboration with Syailendra Capital, BRI commits to further developing wealth management products and achieving better returns in the future.

At the same opportunity, Fajar R. Hidajat, Chief Executive Officer of PT Syailendra Capital, expressed appreciation to BRI for the opportunity to collaborate and contribute to the industry, including education to raise financial literacy and inclusion. The collaboration between Syailendra Capital and BRI will be through two flagship mutual funds: Syailendra Sharia Money Market Fund (SSMMF) and Syailendra Sharia Fixed Income Fund (SSFIF).

‘These two funds have performed very well year-to-date and have been among the top three performers, consistently over the last three years. We hope this collaboration will provide a good experience for the BRI community and also a learning curve for us as we mark 20 years as a local independent and BRI becomes the second Himbara bank to work with us. We are honoured,’ he said.

Syailendra Capital will continue to tailor wealth management products to suit BRI customers’ profiles. It will keep offering products with high industry growth and package them to meet sharia compliance.

At the same time, Victor Teja, Chief Retail Officer of PT Syailendra Capital, views the potential for sharia-based mutual funds in Indonesia as very large. Indonesia is among the top three globally on the Islamic Economic Indicator.

‘If we drill down into the halal market’s strong position, we are even number two. From this it is clear that the sharia market is dominant and has high potential going forward. If we look at the funds, our mutual funds have grown, then declined,’ he said.

Moreover, sharia-based investment instruments are known as riba-free products. They carry relatively lower risk because sharia compliance criteria are more layered than for conventional funds and must meet fatwas before marketing to the public.

Victor added that sharia investment products such as mutual funds can be accessed easily by investors, including through BRI. Syailendra Capital sees BRI’s distribution network across Indonesia as an advantage, enabling BRI customers to invest in Syailendra’s mutual funds safely and comfortably.

‘Thus, there are many layers of rules to ensure sharia mutual funds comply. The result is that BRI customers investing in Syailendra products are safer and more comfortable,’ he concluded.
