PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has reinforced its commitment to maintaining security and governance in banking services by adjusting the status of savings and current accounts, effective 10 May 2026. The policy aligns with the implementation of Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) Number 24 of 2025 concerning Account Management at Commercial Banks, which aims to enhance customer protection whilst strengthening a healthier, safer, and more transparent banking system.

Under the adjustment, the classification of savings and current account statuses is divided into three categories: Active Account, Inactive Account, and Dormant Account. This measure is part of BRI’s efforts to ensure optimal account usage whilst minimising the potential for account misuse that could harm customers or the banking industry.

BRI Operations Director Hakim Putratama stated that the account status adjustment is part of the company’s commitment to providing safer banking services and optimal protection for customers amidst increasing digital transaction activity. “BRI continues to ensure all banking services operate safely, transparently, and in accordance with regulatory provisions. This account status adjustment is an important step to maintain the quality of customer account management whilst minimising the potential for account misuse for activities that harm the public and the banking industry,” he said.

BRI urges all customers to transact regularly to keep their accounts in active status. Such activity can include incoming or outgoing fund transactions, as well as periodic balance checks through various BRI service channels, including BRImo. With an active account, customers can continue to enjoy smooth and convenient banking transactions to support their daily financial needs.

For customers whose accounts fall into the Inactive category, reactivation can be carried out through the BRImo application or by visiting the nearest BRI branch office. Meanwhile, for accounts that have become Dormant, reactivation can be performed at a BRI branch office in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.

Hakim emphasised that active customer participation in maintaining account status is a key factor in creating a healthy and secure banking transaction ecosystem. In addition to ensuring accounts remain active, customers are also advised to regularly update their personal data, such as address, email, phone number, and identity documents, to support the security and smoothness of banking services. “We invite all customers to routinely ensure their accounts remain active, update their personal data, and maintain the security of their banking access. By doing so, customers can continue to enjoy optimal transaction convenience whilst enhancing protection against potential financial crime risks,” he said.

As one of the banks with the widest service network in Indonesia, BRI continues to strengthen digital transformation and service quality oriented towards customer needs. Through BRImo and its network of offices spread across Indonesia, BRI ensures that all customers can access safe, easy, and convenient banking services whilst supporting the creation of a stronger and more trustworthy national banking ecosystem.
