BRI Reduces Cost of Fund and Strengthens Profitability Under Danantara Supervision, Low-Cost Deposit Strategy Bears Fruit
PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has consistently demonstrated the success of its business transformation through an increasingly efficient and sustainable funding structure. The strategy, which focuses on boosting low-cost funds (CASA), has successfully reduced the cost of funds (CoF) while strengthening the quality of the company’s business growth amidst challenging global economic dynamics. This achievement aligns with the fundamental strengthening and value creation agenda promoted by Danantara within the state-owned enterprise environment. The improvement in the funding structure reflects BRI’s ability to manage funding costs more optimally, providing the company with greater room to maintain profitability, strengthen competitiveness, and support quality and sustainable business growth.
As of March 2026, BRI collected third-party funds (DPK) of Rp1,555.1 trillion, growing 9.4% year-on-year (yoy). Of this amount, CASA (consolidated) increasingly dominated, reaching Rp1,058.6 trillion, equivalent to 68.07% of total DPK, up from 65.77% in the same period the previous year. Funding efficiency was also evident from the decline in BRI’s cost of funds, which fell from 2.98% in the first quarter of 2025 to 2.33% in the first quarter of 2026, a decrease of 65 basis points.
BRI President Director Hery Gunardi stated that strengthening CASA is one of the key strategies in the company’s ongoing transformation programme. “The increase in CASA has a direct impact on the efficiency of funding costs and the quality of the company’s funding structure. High transaction volumes occur across various digital channels such as BRImo, QLola by BRI, Business Merchant, and QRIS BRI. With a stronger foundation, BRI can maintain a balance between business growth, profitability, and risk management,” he said. The strengthened funding structure also supported the company’s overall performance. Up to the first quarter of 2026, BRI Group’s total assets grew 7.2% yoy to Rp2,250 trillion, while loans and financing grew 13.7% to Rp1,562 trillion. In the same period, the company’s consolidated net profit increased 13.7% to Rp15.5 trillion.
In line with this, BPI Danantara Indonesia Chief Operating Officer and Head of the SOE Executing Agency Dony Oskaria stated that Danantara continues to encourage comprehensive transformation in state-owned enterprises so they have strong and sustainable business fundamentals.
