JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) recorded a net profit of Rp 15.5 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. This achievement represents a 13.74 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year. “Up to the end of the first quarter of 2026, we continue to show positive results,” said BRI President Director Hery Gunardi during a virtual press conference on Thursday (30/4/2026). BRI’s net profit growth was supported by an increase in interest income to Rp 52.83 trillion, up 5.94 percent year-on-year. At the same time, interest expenses decreased by 9.31 percent to Rp 12.68 trillion. BRI’s credit performance in the first quarter of 2026 included Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) of Rp 47.09 trillion to around 947,000 customers. In addition, housing financing through the FLPP scheme reached Rp 17.13 trillion for approximately 125,000 debtors. The strong credit performance directly impacts society, particularly small business actors and the housing sector, which have been BRI’s main financing focus. On the other hand, broader access to financing opens up business expansion opportunities and home ownership for low-to-middle-income communities. Nevertheless, the expansion has put pressure on BRI’s credit quality. The gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio rose to 3.31 percent from around 3 percent previously. Meanwhile, the net NPL also increased to 1.01 percent. This rise reflects the growing risk alongside the aggressiveness of credit distribution. Third-party funds (DPK) stood at Rp 1,555 trillion, growing 9.4 percent year-on-year. The composition of low-cost funds or CASA reached 68.1 percent, indicating the dominance of savings and current account-based funds, which are more efficient. The bank’s liquidity remains well-maintained, although the loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) increased to 87.66 percent. This rise signifies stronger intermediation function, though liquidity room becomes more limited. BRI’s total consolidated assets reached approximately Rp 2,249 trillion as of March 2026, growing more than 7.2 percent compared to the previous year.
