Jakarta — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) has prepared cash reserves of IDR 25 trillion for the Eid Al-Fitr 2026 holiday. The amount comprises existing account balances and additional cash requirements during the seven-day Eid holiday service period.

BRI’s Operations Director Hakim Putratama detailed that IDR 19.7 trillion will be sourced from BRI’s existing account balances, with an additional IDR 5.3 trillion allocated for cash requirements during the seven-day Eid holiday service period.

He stated that the cash allocation was determined through analysis and ensures sufficient liquidity for this year’s Eid holiday period.

However, the cash allocation for 2026 has decreased compared to 2025, when BRI provided IDR 32.8 trillion. According to Hakim, the reduction aligns with BRI’s strategy to minimise cash circulation in order to reduce operational costs.

“One of our objectives is to reduce the amount of cash in circulation. This includes our strategy that the more cash we hold, the more costs we must incur to ensure that money remains secure,” Hakim stated during a joint breaking of the fast with members of the press on 10 March 2026.

Concurrently, BRI is promoting increased QRIS transactions and usage of its red-plate bank super app, BRIMo.

“This has had a remarkable impact on reducing cash availability,” Hakim concluded.

He noted that BRIMo transactions have reached an all-time high (ATH), achieving IDR 37 trillion per day.

During the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, 186 BRI work units will operate on 18, 20, 23, and 24 March 2026 from 08:00 to 15:00.

Available services include account opening, cash withdrawals and deposits, debit card services, e-banking registration, government revenue deposits, complaint handling, and special customer services (Pertamina Jasa Raharja).

Additionally, BRI ensures the availability of 19,657 ATMs and cash recycling machines, 284,670 electronic data capture terminals, 1.2 million BRILink agents, and 4.6 million QRIS payment points.
