BRI Provides Entrepreneurship Training for Indonesian Migrant Workers in Taiwan

Jakarta (ANTARA) — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, has provided entrepreneurship training for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in Taiwan as an effort to strengthen the economic capacity of the community.

“BRI wants to encourage PMI not only to succeed whilst working abroad, but also to be ready to become independent entrepreneurs capable of creating jobs and providing benefits for communities in their home regions,” said BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

BRI provided the training for 50 PMI in Taiwan originating from various regions across Indonesia. The opening of the programme was held at the Heelung District Fishermen’s Association in Keelung City, Taiwan, on Sunday (26/7).

Dhanny further explained that the empowerment training programme was built on the principle that remittances must be managed as an instrument of economic independence, not merely for consumption.

Through the programme, participants receive various forms of training, ranging from developing an entrepreneurial mindset and idea validation, to financial literacy and remittance management, business plan preparation, and enterprise management from the production stage through to digital marketing.

In addition to the training, participants also receive modular business mentoring to ensure that the business plans they draw up can be implemented and developed.

The programme also aims to build business networks among PMI, strengthen financial literacy, and channel savings and remittances into productive business capital.

“BRI believes that the remittances generated by PMI are not only a source of family livelihood, but can also become capital to build productive and sustainable businesses,” he said.
