PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) recorded a current period profit of Rp34.77 trillion from January to August 2026.

According to monthly financial reports as of 31 August 2026 released on its official website, pre-tax profit was recorded at Rp42.57 trillion, supported by a net interest income of Rp77.25 trillion, derived from interest income of Rp109.66 trillion and interest expenses of Rp32.41 trillion.

One notable indicator of BRI’s performance is its savings deposits. As of the end of August 2026, BRI’s savings reached Rp623.72 trillion, representing the largest component in the structure of third-party funds (DPK).

In addition to savings, BRI holds current accounts amounting to Rp449.36 trillion and time deposits of Rp582.74 trillion. With current accounts and savings (CASA) reaching approximately 64.8% of DPK, BRI maintains a funding structure dominated by low-cost funds.

Based on this data, BRI’s total DPK reached approximately Rp1,655.84 trillion. Meanwhile, interest expenses over the eight-month period reached Rp32.41 trillion. If annualised simply, this interest expense is equivalent to approximately Rp48.6 trillion. Compared to the DPK, this figure results in an estimated cost of funds (CoF) of around 2.9%.

By comparison, the national banking industry also shows strong fund growth. Bank Indonesia recorded that banking DPK grew by 10.94% year-on-year in August 2026. During the same period, banking credit grew even faster, at 13.65% year-on-year, up from 13.58% in July 2026.

Industry credit growth was primarily supported by investment credit, which grew by 25.11%, working capital credit by 11.45%, and consumer credit by 5.07%. BI also noted that credit distribution appetite remains quite loose alongside sustained high DPK growth.

Under these conditions, BRI has the room to continue distributing credit supported by its large low-cost fund base. As of August 2026, BRI’s total credit reached Rp1,446.98 trillion, or approximately 87% of its DPK.

Regarding asset quality, the impairment loss on financial assets was recorded at Rp29.94 trillion. Against total credit of Rp1,446.98 trillion, the cost of credit (CoC) is equivalent to approximately 3.1% annually. To anticipate credit risk, BRI has formed a provision for impairment losses on credit and sharia financing of Rp77.09 trillion.

At the industry level, national banking credit quality remained relatively stable as of August 2026. BI recorded a gross NPL ratio of 2.10% and a net NPL of 0.81% in July 2026. In terms of capitalisation, the banking CAR stood at 23.84%, while the ratio of liquid assets to DPK was recorded at 23.04% in August 2026.

This implies that amidst credit growth outpacing DPK growth, the banking industry still possesses strong liquidity and capital buffers. BRI itself maintains a significant low-cost fund position with a CASA of 64.8% and an estimated CoF of around 2.9%, while the CoC is in the range of 3.1%.

Overall, BRI’s total assets reached Rp2,127.78 trillion, with total liabilities of Rp1,825.35 trillion and total equity of Rp302.43 trillion. Distributed credit was recorded at Rp1,446.98 trillion, resulting in a credit-to-DPK ratio of approximately 87%. During the current period, the company has also paid out dividends amounting to Rp52.10 trillion.
