BRI Peduli Opens Path for Sukoharjo Furniture SME to Global Markets, Boosts Export Training
Success in business often begins with the courage to seize opportunities. This is the story of CV Swakarya Jaya Furniture, a furniture business from Sukoharjo, Central Java, which was founded in 2020 and has successfully entered the international market after a long process full of challenges and a spirit for growth.
Armed with the determination to harness the potential of Indonesia’s furniture industry, owner Febrina Lossu started her business by independently learning about the timber industry and export markets. Without large capital or adequate production facilities, she built her business step by step until it reached global buyers.
‘Because I saw an opportunity in timber or furniture exports, I dared myself to start finding out about the furniture industry and the export market. From there, I also began looking for buyers so this business could grow,’ said Febrina.
The journey was not always smooth. Limited capital was the main challenge faced from the very beginning. The entire process was started from scratch, even without having a personal production site. As the business grew, the next challenge shifted to expanding networks and finding new buyers so the products could continue to reach the global market.
‘Our main obstacle lies in limited capital, because I did not start the business with capital. Without a workplace, everything started from zero. Currently, the main obstacle is finding buyers,’ she stated.
Amidst this process, Febrina continued to equip herself with various knowledge to strengthen her business capacity. One such opportunity was through the Export Training organised by BRI Peduli.
This programme provides SMEs with comprehensive knowledge about the export process, ranging from document requirements and international payment mechanisms to shipping management, so that transactions can be conducted more securely and with minimised risk.
For Febrina, the training became a learning space that opened new perspectives on more professional export practices. The material provided not only enriched her insights but could also be directly applied in her daily business activities.
‘After attending the training, I became aware of several steps I had never understood before. Now I understand more about export documents, payment systems, and freight services. This knowledge is very helpful because it makes the export process safer and can reduce risk,’ she revealed.
