PT BRI Manajemen Investasi (BRI-MI), together with the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI FEB UI), has introduced the BRI-MI Anagata Lestari Berimbang Sharia Mutual Fund, a Sharia-based mixed mutual fund. The investment instrument adopts the endowment fund concept as part of efforts to expand sustainable investment alternatives in Indonesia.

The BRI-MI Anagata Lestari Berimbang Sharia Mutual Fund responds to the growing trend of sustainable investment, driven by increasing investor attention to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors. At the same time, demand is rising for Sharia investment instruments that not only pursue growth in investment value but also deliver long-term benefits for society.

Arief Budiman, President Director of BRI Manajemen Investasi, said shifting investor preferences are pushing the investment management industry to offer instruments that combine financial objectives with measurable impact.

“We see that investors today consider not only the potential returns, but also how their investments are managed and what benefits they produce. That is why we developed Anagata Lestari Berimbang by integrating Sharia principles, the endowment fund concept, and sustainability into a single investment instrument, so that economic benefits can also contribute to the environment and society,” Arief said in a statement on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

Unlike conventional investment approaches, the endowment fund concept positions investment as an instrument that not only generates economic value but also preserves benefits for future generations. Under this approach, investment returns can be channelled to support social and environmental programmes, whilst the principal remains managed to provide benefits sustainably.

According to Arief, the endowment fund concept gives investment management a longer-term orientation. With relatively more stable fund flows, the investment manager has greater room to manage the portfolio in line with the product’s risk profile.

Anagata Lestari Berimbang is explained to be a Sharia mixed mutual fund with a moderate risk profile. Its entire investment portfolio refers to the Sharia Securities List established by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and is supervised by the Sharia Supervisory Board. The product also provides periodic Investment Return Distribution (PHI) every three months, making it a suitable option for investors with long-term goals, including education fund planning, retirement preparation, or building a family endowment fund.
