PT Asuransi BRI Life (BRI Life) has reaffirmed its commitment to creating added value for communities through the second phase of its MSME Empowerment Corporate Social Responsibility programme in Gayamharjo Village, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Collaborating with the BRI Research Institute (BRIRINS Institute) as the implementing partner, the three-month programme, running from March to May 2026, focused on enhancing the capacity of cassava-based micro, small, and medium enterprises to produce high-value-added processed goods with greater competitiveness.

Through an integrated approach, BRI Life provided not only production facilities but also strengthened business governance, product innovation, financial literacy, and market access expansion. The programme is part of the company’s commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable community economic growth.

Ade Nasution, Head of the Corporate Secretary Division at BRI Life, stated that community empowerment is a key focus of the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility initiatives. “For BRI Life, the success of a CSR programme is not only measured by the assistance provided, but by the community’s ability to continue growing after the programme concludes. Therefore, we present a programme that not only provides production facilities but also strengthens business capacity through structured mentoring with BRIRINS Institute. We hope this programme will give birth to MSMEs that are more independent, adaptive, and competitive, so they can improve community welfare sustainably,” Ade said.

During the programme, BRI Life and BRIRINS Institute mentored the Monalisa MSME Group in developing production processes, administrative governance, product innovation, and marketing strategies. One tangible outcome of the programme was the creation of ‘Pie Susu Kambing Mocaf’, which utilises mocaf flour made from cassava and combines it with local goat’s milk, thereby increasing its added value and broadening its market potential.

BRI Life also supported the modernisation of the production process by providing a tiered oven, stainless steel work tables, and digital devices for business record-keeping. A total of 30 members of the Monalisa MSME Group received Micro Accident, Health, and Life Insurance protection from BRI Life, complemented by financial literacy education to strengthen their financial resilience.

To ensure business sustainability from the upstream level, the programme involved an agricultural expert from Universitas Gadjah Mada who provided guidance on pest and disease control to maintain the quality of raw materials.

Mantik Bimo Nugroho, Coordinator of the Monalisa MSME Production and Marketing House, conveyed that the mentoring had improved the group’s ability to manage their business, utilise digital technology, and expand the marketing of processed mocaf products.

Aris Herbandang, Secretary of the Sleman Regency Industry and Trade Office, also appreciated BRI Life’s consistency in mentoring MSMEs. He noted that the programme aligns with the local government’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs based on local potential.

Through this CSR programme, BRI Life has reinforced its commitment to delivering tangible benefits to the community through economic empowerment based on local potential. Going forward, BRI Life will continue to promote programmes that build community self-reliance, strengthen MSMEs, and create a sustainable social impact.
