BRI Life Pays Out IDR 1.17 Trillion in Claims, with Claims Ratio Lower than Industry Average
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Asuransi Jiwa BRI Life reported payments for claims and benefits reaching IDR 1.17 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents a 2.4% decline year-on-year compared to IDR 1.20 trillion for the same period last year. Operational Director of BRI Life, Andrew Bain, stated that the decrease in claims and benefits serves as a positive signal for the company’s business health. “We continue to strengthen risk governance and portfolio selection to ensure that claim payments remain optimal without compromising service,” he said in an official statement on Thursday (7/5/2026). Andrew added that the claims and benefits ratio in the first quarter of 2026 remains stable and lower than the national life insurance industry, reflecting the health of the portfolio and customer trust. The 2.4% annual decline in claims is also attributed to disciplined underwriting strategies and more selective portfolio management. “We want to ensure that every premium paid by customers returns in the form of appropriate protection,” he added. BRI Life will continue to focus on customer protection through relevant products and a fast, transparent claims process in accordance with regulations.
