Jakarta - BRI Insurance has partnered with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to hold a social blood donation drive as a manifestation of humanitarian concern in helping those in need of blood.

BRI Insurance’s Director of Compliance and Risk Management, Heri Supriyadi, stated that the blood donation activity with PMI is a routine agenda as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to sustainable humanitarian actions.

“This serves as a concrete action in our CSR programme, with the hope of providing significant benefits to the community in need of blood as well as to the health of our employees,” Heri said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

He described the humanitarian action as an expression of concern for social and environmental responsibility, themed “One Drop of Your Blood, a Life for Others”.

The activity also forms part of the series of events commemorating the company’s 37th anniversary, focusing on social contributions to society.

Furthermore, Heri explained that the humanitarian action involves all branches to participate in blood donations for employees, business partners, and stakeholders in the company’s operational areas.

“We target collecting as many as 1,000 bags of blood from participants spread across 18 BRI Insurance branch offices in Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, PMI representative Riany appreciated the blood donation event organised by BRI Insurance, deeming it highly beneficial for many people requiring blood transfusions.

“One drop of blood may seem small to us, but to others, it is hope for life. We hope this action becomes the start of more intensive collaboration between BRI Insurance and PMI in broader humanitarian missions,” Riany said.

Before the blood extraction, each participant must undergo a health screening process, including checks for body temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and haemoglobin levels.

Riany emphasised that blood donation activities not only benefit recipients but also provide health benefits to donors, such as reducing excess iron levels that risk triggering heart disease and facilitating the regeneration of red blood cells.

Separately, BRI Insurance’s President Director Budi Legowo expressed appreciation to PMI for their ongoing support in implementing the company’s social responsibility activities through blood donation programmes at various work units.

He affirmed that the blood donation implementation is part of the company’s commitment to consistent social responsibility and involves all work units in Indonesia.

According to him, the activity demonstrates strong collaboration between the company and various involved parties, including donation participants who directly contribute to meeting the blood needs of the wider community.

He added that the company not only focuses on blood donation actions but also continues to develop various other social programmes that provide tangible benefits to society and the surrounding environment in a sustainable manner.

These efforts align with the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility principles to promote a healthy and sustainable life and strengthen its role as a reliable protection partner.
