In several areas of South Cianjur, the journey to customers’ homes cannot always be made by motor vehicle. Rocky roads, steep inclines, and access that must be covered on foot are part of daily life so that banking services remain available to business owners.

This routine has become part of the daily life of Randy Wijaya, a BRI field officer at the Cibinong Unit, Cianjur Branch. For more than two years, he has assisted hundreds of business owners in his area.

“From the start, I chose a career as a BRI field officer because I wanted a job that not only provides a decent income, but also gives the opportunity to meet, help, and grow together with the community. Being a field officer is not just a job for me, but also a mandate to assist business owners so they can develop their businesses and improve their families’ welfare. I feel proud when I can see customers who initially started small businesses, then grow thanks to the assistance and facilities provided by BRI,” said Randy, quoted on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Most of the customers assisted by Randy are palm sugar tappers who depend on their family income from the harvest. During each visit, he discusses business needs, introduces various BRI financing solutions, and monitors business development and the quality of customers’ loans.

He also introduces various BRI services, including BRILink Agents. Often, conversations take place on the veranda of a house while enjoying a cup of warm coffee served by the customer. From these simple conversations, Randy increasingly understands the needs and business conditions of his customers.

However, building such closeness is not always easy. Changes in weather, damaged road conditions, and limited telecommunications networks are often challenges when visiting his area. In certain conditions, he must continue the journey on foot in order to meet customers.

“Weather is the main challenge because it can change plans that have already been scheduled. Not to mention damaged road conditions that risk causing accidents. Therefore, I always prepare special equipment to deal with various conditions so that my duties and responsibilities to customers can still be carried out,” said Randy.

BRI Micro Director Akhmad Purwakajaya said that Randy’s story reflects the dedication of BRI field officers in assisting business owners while also showing how closeness with customers is BRI’s strength in understanding community needs and delivering relevant services in various regions.

“The role of field officers is not only to provide access to financial services, but also to build close relationships with business owners through continuous assistance. This closeness allows BRI to understand customer needs better so that the solutions provided can be tailored to the characteristics of businesses and the potential in each region. This approach strengthens BRI’s role in driving MSME growth while expanding financial inclusion,” concluded Akhmad.
