BRI Distributes Food Packages to Buddhists for Vesak Day
BRI has distributed 1,000 food packages to the Buddhist community in commemoration of Vesak Day on Sunday, 31 May 2026. The BRI Peduli initiative was symbolically delivered to Buddhists at Wihara Satrya Dharma in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, and Wihara Dharma Bhakti in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.
Corporate Secretary Dhanny stated that the aid distribution reflects the company’s social responsibility in supporting basic community needs while strengthening communal spirit and social care. “We aim to show compassion towards communities observing Vesak Day at Wihara Satrya Dharma and Wihara Dharma Bhakti,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (31 May).
Wihara Satrya Dharma is one of Jakarta’s largest Buddhist temples. Within the complex is the Kwee Goan Say Temple (Kwee Goan Say Bio), built in the 1960s and the oldest structure in the area.
Wihara Dharma Bhakti is Jakarta’s oldest temple. Besides serving as a place of worship, it functions as a community development centre, Dhamma education hub, social activities venue, and youth development programme.
Dhanny added that the food aid is part of BRI’s ongoing commitment to benefit society through inclusive social activities reaching diverse groups. The state-owned bank will continue implementing social and environmental responsibility programmes focused on empowerment and improving community welfare.
“We hope to continue as a partner that not only provides banking services but also contributes to creating positive and sustainable social impacts for communities across Indonesia,” Dhanny said.
Ekawati Tantawi, Chairman of Wihara Dharma Bhakti, welcomed BRI’s compassion during Vesak Day, calling it an opportunity to spread love and strengthen mutual care.
