BRI Distributes Aid to Flores Residents Affected by Earthquake

BRI Peduli has distributed aid to residents of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, affected by the earthquake. The assistance handed over includes hundreds of packages of ready-to-eat meals, snacks, mineral water, cooking oil, rice and medicines.

BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny said the various forms of aid were distributed by BRI Peduli volunteers through the nearest BRI work units in the disaster-affected areas, particularly in Maumere, Sikka Regency, and Mbay, Nagekeo Regency. The distribution of aid was prioritised for local residents who were more severely affected by the earthquake on Saturday (15/8/2026).

“BRI Peduli is also cooperating and coordinating with various parties to synergise in distributing aid to earthquake victims as an effort to ease the burden on the community,” Dhanny said in a press release on Sunday (16/8/2026).

The death toll from the magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Flores rose to 53 people by Sunday afternoon (16/8/2026). Meanwhile, the number of injured reached 110 people. The earthquake, centred in Nagekeo, left a total of 3,839 people affected, including those who were displaced.

Dhanny added that BRI is ensuring the safety of customers and employees remains the top priority. The state-owned bank has secured assets at the location and is coordinating with relevant parties to conduct a thorough assessment of the condition of buildings and operational facilities.

“We are committed to restoring services as quickly as possible while continuing to heed the direction of the government and relevant authorities as well as developments in the post-earthquake situation,” Dhanny said.

BRI has also prepared mitigation measures to ensure banking services continue to operate. “Customers can still access various BRI banking services through BRImo and available BRILink agents,” he added.
