BRI Disburses Rp258.9 Billion in Housing Programme Credit in Papua to Expand Affordable Housing Access
This achievement reflects BRI’s commitment to supporting the national housing programme, particularly in eastern Indonesia. Sorong (ANTARA) - Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has disbursed Housing Programme Credit (KPP) amounting to Rp258.9 billion in the Papua region as of 27 April 2026, as an effort to expand home ownership access for low-income communities (MBR). BRI’s Director of Consumer Banking, Aris Hartanto, in Sorong on Tuesday, stated that the disbursement reached 610 debtors, with details of Rp174.4 billion from the supply side and Rp84.5 billion from the demand side. “This achievement reflects BRI’s commitment to supporting the national housing programme, especially in eastern Indonesia,” he explained. According to him, the high KPP disbursement indicates the significant potential housing needs in Papua, which continue to grow. He explained that housing financing through KPP not only helps communities own decent homes but also drives regional economic growth through multiplier effects in the construction sector and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The distribution of KPP disbursement in Papua is dominated by Papua Province at 28.03 per cent, followed by West Papua at 16.76 per cent, Central Papua at 14.76 per cent, and South Papua at 13.83 per cent, while the rest is spread across Papua Pegunungan and Southwest Papua. Nationally, he said, BRI recorded KPP disbursement reaching Rp7.89 trillion to 55,624 debtors, equivalent to 98.73 per cent of the Rp8 trillion target for 2026. In addition to KPP, BRI is also actively disbursing the Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP) as part of support for government programmes. As of April 2026, BRI has disbursed 9,229 FLPP units with a value of Rp16.9 trillion to around 123,000 debtors. According to Aris, this financing scheme is increasingly affordable for the public because it offers low interest rates, namely around 5 per cent per year for FLPP and 6 per cent per year for KPP. “Through collaboration with the government, BP Tapera, and developers, we ensure that disbursement runs evenly and sustainably so that more communities can own decent homes,” he said. He hopes that KPP and FLPP disbursement can continue to be increased to expand access to decent housing for MBR while driving inclusive economic growth in the Papua region.
