JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, recorded that the MSME segment dominated the company’s loan disbursements throughout the first quarter of 2026. Total loan disbursements by BRI reached Rp 1.562 trillion in Q1 2026, growing 13.7% year-on-year (yoy). Of that amount, approximately 77.5% was channelled to the MSME segment, amounting to Rp 1.211 trillion. This figure represents an 11.85% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year, which stood at Rp 1.373.66 trillion. “The MSME segment remains the mainstay pillar in BRI’s financing portfolio,” stated the company in a written release on Monday (4/5/2026). As part of its support for government programmes, BRI also serves as the largest distributor of People’s Business Credit (KUR). Throughout January to March 2026, BRI has disbursed KUR worth Rp 47.09 trillion to around 947,000 debtors. Of that amount, the agricultural sector absorbed the largest share at 42.16%, valued at Rp 19.86 trillion. “These disbursements not only reflect the scale and broad reach of BRI’s services but also act as a catalyst in driving productive business growth, enhancing MSME capacity, and creating jobs in various regions,” the statement added. To support digitalisation, BRI relies on the LinkUMKM platform, which is now used by more than 15.5 million business actors. Additionally, the company has nurtured 54 BUMN Houses and conducted over 18,000 training sessions for MSMEs. According to the company, the focus on micro financing provides an advantage in risk management. The portfolio, spread across millions of debtors with small ceilings, makes credit risk more diversified and not concentrated. In terms of performance, this strategy also supports BRI’s net profit, which reached Rp 15.5 trillion in Q1 2026, growing 13.7% (yoy). Total assets also increased by 7.2% to Rp 2.250 trillion. Profitability ratios showed improvement, with return on assets (ROA) at 2.8% and return on equity (ROE) rising to 18.4% from 17.1% in the same period the previous year.
