Jakarta – Marking and honouring the sanctity of Ramadan, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, consistently channels assistance to communities as an expression of corporate social responsibility and concern for fellow citizens.

During Ramadan, BRI through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme “BRI Care” has resumed the “Sharing Joy Together with BRI” initiative through the distribution of 279,000 food packages to communities across various regions. Additionally, BRI has provided allowances for 8,500 orphans in care facilities distributed throughout Indonesia.

Each food package contains rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other essential household items. The distribution is carried out by representatives of BRI’s 18 regional offices spread across Indonesia, involving all employees of the BRI Group.

BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny stated that the Sharing Joy Together with BRI programme is a social awareness initiative organised by BRI Care in collaboration with YBM BRILiaN during the holy month of Ramadan to strengthen social solidarity and deliver tangible benefits to communities.

“We ensure assistance reaches communities by involving all BRI employees at every work unit distributed throughout Indonesia. We also hope the food packages and allowances can help ease the burden on communities and orphans living in care facilities,” he said.

He added that the programme is also aligned with the government’s Asta Cita agenda, where food package distribution aims to ensure the fulfilment of communities’ basic needs and promote tolerance amongst religious groups to achieve a just and prosperous society.

“BRI continually fulfils its social obligations, strengthens its role as a pillar of the national economy, and delivers positive benefits for the environment and surrounding communities,” Dhanny said.

In a separate statement, Agus Surahman, representing residents of Menteng Dalam Neighbourhood, Tebet District, South Jakarta, said that food package assistance from BRI Care has helped alleviate economic burden and promote improved nutrition amongst communities in his area.

“We are greatly helped by this programme and we express our gratitude to BRI for its concern. This also strengthens the bonds and fellowship between us residents and BRI, which is always close to us and helps us,” he said.
