Rifaldy and others admit to misusing academic institutions’ names. The hope for a fairer and fraud-free new student admission process is now being realised by Brebes Regency Government in Central Java. 2026 marks a new step in education services as the New Student Admission System (SPMB) now has clear legal backing and implements online registration. This commitment was marked by Brebes Regent Hj Paramitha Widya Kusuma handing over the Regent’s Regulation and Technical Guidelines (Juknis) for SPMB 2026/2027 Academic Year to the Brebes Regency Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Dindikpora). The regulations include Brebes Regent Regulation No. 10 of 2026 amending Regent Regulation No. 25 of 2025 on the SPMB, Brebes Regent Decision No. 420/113 of 2026 on SPMB Technical Guidelines for TK, SD, and SMP levels, and KPK RI Circular Letter No. 7 of 2026 on corruption prevention and gratification control in SPMB implementation. Regent Paramitha stressed that the regulations are designed to ensure all children in Brebes have equal educational opportunities without discrimination or practices harming the public. “We want to ensure every child in Brebes gets equal educational opportunities, free from fraud, with a transparent and accountable process,” Paramitha stated in an official release on Friday (29/5). Paramitha explained that clear regulations are crucial for building clean, transparent, objective, and accountable education governance. With a more open system, the public can easily monitor the entire admission process. The most noticeable change this year is the introduction of online registration. “Previously, parents had to visit schools and queue to register, but now the process is simplified through digital services,” Paramitha said. Initially, the online system will be piloted at seven state-run Pembina kindergartens and 23 pilot primary schools. All state secondary schools in Brebes Regency have fully adopted online registration. Dindikpora Head Sutaryono said the digital transformation in SPMB is not just about keeping up with technology, but also about closing loopholes for opaque public services. “This 2026 marks a historic milestone. Parents no longer need to struggle with manual registration at their target schools; they can register from home using our digital system,” Sutaryono explained. The online system is also expected to create a more open and jointly monitorable selection process. Brebes Regency Government has assured that no fees will be charged for SPMB. “There are no fees for new student registration under any circumstances. All operational costs are covered by the BOSP budget. Any request for payment is a violation,” Sutaryono stressed. As a follow-up, Dindikpora Brebes will conduct both online and offline socialisation to help the public understand the new registration procedures. Schools are also required to form organising committees to ensure optimal service delivery. Through regulatory strengthening, technology utilisation, and a commitment to fee-free services, Brebes Regency aims for SPMB 2026 to deliver clean, accessible education services that prioritise students and the community.
