Brebes Police Prepare Traffic Engineering for Second Wave Return Peak on Toll Roads and Arteries
Facing the second wave return flow predicted to peak on 28 and 29 March 2026, the Brebes Police Resort (Polres) of Central Java Regional Police has prepared several traffic engineering schemes. This step is taken to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles passing through the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road and arterial routes towards Jakarta. Brebes Police Chief AKBP Lilik Ardhiansyah stated that up to Friday night, traffic was monitored as busy but smooth without significant slowdowns. However, the police remain vigilant given that a percentage of returnees have yet to reach the Jabodetabek area. “We predict there will still be a surge in vehicles tonight or tomorrow. We have prepared several Action Procedures (CB) that have been centrally coordinated with the National Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police and the Central Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate,” said AKBP Lilik while inspecting the return flow situation at the Banjaratma B Rest Area KM 260 on Friday (27/03/2026) night. One of the main focuses of Polres Brebes is managing potential congestion at rest areas, which often become slowdown points. Unblocking teams have been deployed on the toll road to anticipate this. “If the parking capacity at a rest area is full, police will impose restrictions and direct returnees to the next rest area to prevent queues extending onto the toll road,” Lilik explained. In addition to the toll road, arterial routes are also a serious concern, particularly the potential for water pooling in the Ketanggungan area that occurred a few days prior. “If there is flooding that hinders travel, vehicle flow will be diverted to the Jatibarang area before entering via the Adiwerna or Brebes Timur toll gates (Brexit Toll Exit),” Lilik clarified. The Police Chief continued that if the pooling can still be passed, officers will conduct sterilisation and flow pulling to keep vehicles moving smoothly into the toll road. “To date, the one-way scheme on the Trans Java toll road towards the west continues to be implemented to ease vehicle volume density,” he concluded.
