Brebes Police Educate New Students at SMAN 1 Banjarharjo to Prevent Juvenile Delinquency
As part of efforts to shape disciplined students who respect the law and steer clear of deviant behaviour, Brebes Police Resort of the Central Java Regional Police, through the Banjarharjo Police Sector, conducted coaching and counselling activities for tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Banjarharjo who are currently taking part in the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS).
The event was held in the hall of SMAN 1 Banjarharjo and attended by all MPLS participants. The speakers included First Police Officer Indra Aprianto, head of the Community Development Unit, First Police Officer Heru Riawan, and Police Brigadier Sutrisno, the designated community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas).
In his presentation, First Police Officer Indra Aprianto educated students on the dangers of juvenile delinquency, such as brawls, bullying and drug abuse. Students were also given an understanding of the harmful effects of drug misuse, from health and social consequences to the criminal penalties facing offenders. To reinforce the material, participants were shown an educational video on the dangers of drug abuse.
Meanwhile, First Police Officer Heru Riawan delivered material on road safety. Students were taught about traffic signs, driving etiquette on public roads, and the prohibition on exhaust pipes that do not comply with technical specifications, as stipulated in Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport.
Banjarharjo Police Chief AKP Ahmad Su’udi said the coaching and counselling activities for students were a preventive police measure to curb various forms of juvenile delinquency while instilling legal awareness from an early age.
“Through this activity, we hope students can grow into a generation of character, avoiding brawls, bullying and drug abuse, and always obeying traffic rules for everyone’s safety,” said Ahmad Su’udi on Tuesday (14 July).
The entire series of activities proceeded safely, orderly and smoothly, reflecting the synergy between the Banjarharjo Police Sector and the school in creating a safe, comfortable and conducive educational environment.
