Brebes hit by floods

BREBES, Central Java: Incessant rain for the past two days have submerged nine villages in the Kersana and Ketanggungan district, in the regency of Brebes.

Thousands of houses and some 120 hectares of farm land are flooded about 50 centimeters deep.

Brebes Regent Syamsudin Sagiman after inspecting the area said the worst-hit villages were Padakaton, Ciduwet, and Kemurang.

In Ketanggungan, students and employees whose schools and offices were inundated spent all day yesterday trying to save papers and documents from being ruined by the flood. (wah/mds)
